1. August 15, 1945 – Rengasdengklok
Event Description:
After Japan officially surrendered to the Allied forces, Indonesian youth leaders believed that this moment was the best opportunity to declare independence. They were worried that if Indonesia waited too long, foreign powers would interfere in the process. To avoid Japanese influence, the youth took Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta to Rengasdengklok.
